Hi, my name is Raju Kumar. I was born at the foothills of the Dalma Hills, along the riverside of the Swarnarekha River. Growing up, my playground was either the riverbank or the hills themselves. During school breaks and summer vacations, I enjoyed trekking in the Dalma jungle, going on safaris, bird watching, and even assisting the forest department with animal preservation and censuses. Life, for me, has always been an adventure.
I consider myself lucky to have been born in Jamshedpur, India—a place that offered countless opportunities for exploration. My love for adventure has taken me on numerous treks in the Himalayas and expeditions along the Ganga and Yamuna rivers. During these expeditions, my passion for nature and wildlife led me to study the Gangetic river dolphin in collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and WWF India.
In fact, my Gangetic Dolphin census report was the first to cover the stretch from Haridwar to Kolkata.
Adventure is not just a hobby for me—it’s a way of life. It has pushed me to try skydiving, bungee jumping in Las Vegas, rafting in the Grand Canyon and Rocky Mountains, and canyoning and kayaking in rivers like the Deerfield, Charles, and Mystic in Massachusetts.
If you are interested in outdoor activities, join me for adventures at my mountain in Buckland, MA, including camping, trekking, yoga, zipping, campfires, bird watching, and wildlife preservation.
